family toolkit: Forged in the wild
Your Kids Unplugged adventure starts here.
The Steel Brothers get pumped on anything outdoors and can’t wait to introduce you to a life of unplugged epicness.

Let’s Ponder & Pātai Together
-
Play: In the episode, the brothers each enjoy different things — sports, art, speeches, card games, nature and adventure. What activities make you feel most alive, excited or “in the zone”?
-
Discover: Judah talks about building confidence by trying risky things little by little. What is something that felt hard or scary at first but became easier after practice?
-
Unplug: The Steel brothers talk a lot about how life feels different off screens. What changes do you notice in yourself or your family when you spend less time on devices?

Activity Ideas
Unplugged family night
Set a timer for one full hour with all screens off.
Prepare a basket of unplugged ideas beforehand:
-
card games
-
drawing supplies
-
lego
-
baking ingredients
-
balls/frisbees
-
books
-
puzzles
-
music
Afterward, each person shares:
-
their favourite part
-
the hardest part
-
whether they’d like to do it weekly
The Courage Ladder
Each family member writes down:
-
one thing that feels easy
-
one thing that feels challenging
-
one thing that feels scary but exciting
Then create a “courage ladder” of small steps toward the 'scary' thing.
Example:
-
ride a bigger bike jump
-
speak in front of class
-
join a sports team
-
make a new friend
Celebrate every small win.

Judah says, “Don’t sway to peer pressure.” How can kids instead support each other to spend more time offline and outdoors?
We always hear the risks of being on screens, nobody really talks about the benefits of being off screens.
When you don’t have a screen you learn how to get creative you become resilient, fit, happy, connected, healthy.
